Life Without Mac & Cheese

By: Kaitlyn L.

Mac and cheese is a must-have, imagine living without it. You would be living without the comfort of a nice bowl of mac and cheese. Whether if it’s in a box or homemade mac and cheese you get joy out of eating mac and cheese. You would think Mac and cheese doesn’t have that much health benefits but it actually has protein and copper that can help with absorbing iron. Mac and cheese have been known to be one of the most favored dishes to kids but there is such a thing as gourmet mac and cheese. There are a variety of different kinds and shapes that have been designed to intrigue kids.

Imagine being a parent with 4 kids, and the food industry no longer sells mac and cheese This would be a nightmare for the parent. Most parents rely on mac and cheese for an easy, quick and delicious meals for their kids. Kraft recently started selling mac and cheese based on kid’s favorite movies like Star Wars, Toy Story and frozen. If the food industry lost mac and cheese parents would have to get creative for quick and easy meals when in a rush. Mac and cheese can bring people together by sharing a warm and cheesy meal.

Boxed mac and cheese have been around since 1937 which means the parents and children that lived before that time period had a harder time making meals fast and efficient. Boxed mac and cheese makes parents feel like they don’t have to rush to get dinner because it’s so easy and quick. Mac and cheese have been made with multiple different kinds of cheese and spices and life without it would not be as comforting as having a bowl of mac and cheese in your lap.

Mac and cheese is an American staple and without it there would be nothing that will replace the cheesiness of mac and cheese. Mac and cheese are efficient and a healthy cheesy meal. All the way to gourmet mac and cheese, to kraft mac cheese in a box mac and cheese will always be an easy way for a delicious meal!

The Adventures of Jamal

Jamal and Henry ran through the halls of the CIA headquarters. Red lights flashed around them. “INTRUDER! INTRUDER! INTRUDER! INTRUDER! INTRUDER!”

They ran past a door. A guy popped open the door and looked out. “Jamal and Henry! Do you need me to keep saying ‘intruder’ over the PA system?”

“Yes! It helps everyone know that there’s an enemy on the premises,” Jamal responded.

They started running again. “INTRUDER! INTRUDER! INTRUDER! *cough* *cough* INTRUDER! INTRUDER!”

They rounded a corner. “There’s Mr. M(aximum Damage)!” Jamal cried. He pulled out his RPG.

“No!” Henry cried. “Mr. E(xtra Damage) wants him alive!”

“Okay,” Jamal pouted.

“When we get home, you can blow up Mr. I(need my mommy)’s yard.”

“Yay!”

By the time they finished the conversation, Mr. M(aximum Damage) had escaped. Mr. E(xtra Damage) called Henry and Jamal into his office.

“As you already know,” he started. “Mr. M(aximum Damage) is my twin brother. We became enemies when his wife, Mrs. T(hat’s a lot of damage) divorced him and married me. He now wants to kill me, and take over the CIA.”

“Got it,” Jamal said.

“We just received some intel.” A guy walked into the room. “Mr. M(aximum Damage) is working for the Russians.”

“Then there is only one thing to do,” Mr. E(xtra Damage) said.

“Ask them nicely to stop?” Jamal suggested.

“No, declare war on them, starting World War IV.”

“Alright sir,” the random guy said. “Jamal? Is that really you?”

“Yes.”

“CAN I HAVE YOUR AUTOGRAPH?” he asked, waving a piece of paper in Jamal’s face.

“Sure!” Jamal took the paper. He then pulled out a lighter and then lit the paper on fire. Jamal handed the burning paper back to him. “Here you go!”

“Thanks!” the guy said. “I’ll go declare war on Russia!”

“Have fun!” Jamal shouted.

A few days later…

Jamal and Henry were on a jet to go fight in a war against Russia with some other CIA agents including Jasper

Jamal asked Jasper, “Do you know what happened to Mr. M(aximum damage)?”

Jasper responded, “From what I heard as soon as he heard you and Henry were in the building he ran away crying for his mother. Literally.”

“Really?” Jamal said sounding surprised.

“Yeah, he was also screaming something about running into ice cream trucks for some reason.”

“I wonder why *cough**cough* we never had anything to do with ice cream trucks.”

Then over the speaker in the plane, the pilot said “Wow, now that’s a rare sight, a flying ice cream truck.”

Jamal and Henry shouted at the same time “WHERE!?” and jumped out of the plane . They came back 5 seconds later with 20 tubs of ice cream.

“Whaaa…?” Jasper started to trail off.

The plane started to fall because the tubs of ice cream were actual bathtubs full of ice cream and everyone except Jamal and Henry started to scream as the plane crashed. Jamal and Henry saw Jasper fall into a tub of ice cream and both Jamal and Henry screamed, “NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! NOT THE MINT CHOCOLATE CHIP!!!!!”

But then Jamal and Henry got knocked out as the plane exploded, but everyone fell into ice cream and survived.

Jamal and Henry both woke up when they both shouted, “NOO! Only peanut butter ice cream is left?! You gotta be kidding me!”

A while later, Jamal, Henry, Jasper, all the other people, and Johnny(they only knew that name because he always said “Hi, I’m Johnny”) were all walking farther away from the plane.

Soon after they started walking away from the crash, Jasper realized that they were in Russia. Jasper told everyone and got a response from Jamal. “So that’s why there’s a bunch of Russian soldiers running straight for us.” Then he started running at them and was shooting his AK-47 (the modified one) at them like a maniac.

They were on the ground charging toward the Russian soldiers. Then the Russians started opening fire. Everyone jumped behind a rock, except for Johnny. May he rest in peace. Henry started chucking grenades. Somehow, even after he threw the grenade, it still was flying in slow motion. Jamal got on his radio and requested a missile strike. A few minutes later a rocket flew out of the sky and exploded. There were no casualties, but it certainly scared the Russians. They ran backward, but then a rocket started flying at the US soldiers. Johnny got hit and was killed. More rockets were flying and nobody was giving up. The Russians kept shooting.

Johnny was hit the chest. “Tell my family I love them,” he said. Then he died.

“Send in more missiles!” Jamal shouted into his radio.

Henry kept chucking grenades. But he realized that he wasn’t doing any damage. So he pulled the pin on a grenade, put it in a box of gunpowder, then threw the box. He took out 30 tanks. Now that’s a lotta damage. Jamal then put the box of gunpowder and grenades on rockets. He blasted at a Russian plane. Everything within a 30-mile radius was vaporized. Good thing the plane was30.00000000000000000000000000001 miles away from the US troops. Except for Johnny. May she rest in peace.

Suddenly, Jamal heard a rustle in the bushes, and, out of reflex, shot his RPG right at the noise. Mr. M(aximum Damage)’s head slowly rolled out of the bush and stopped Jamal’s feet.

Jamal called a helicopter and told them that he had a surprise for Mr. E(xtra damage).

After they landed(somehow they landed on Johnny. May it rest in peace), Mr. E(xtra Damage) asked them what the surprise was. “Over here, in the cooler. I have a new head to add to the BeHEADastals.”

Mr. E(xtra Damage) was upset that Jamal killed his brother. He wanted him alive. But then Jamal explained that they could just sew him back together, and shock him back to life.

“Okay, sure!” Mr. E(xtra Damage) “Then we can put him in a display case!” Jamal and Henry received medals for their service to US. Mr. E(xtra Damage) got a sick display case in his office.

“Um, shouldn’t we stop fighting now that this all has been resolved?” Henry asked.

“Nah, we’ll just let the armies figure it out.”

The Noise Level

The noise level of this class is unbearable at moments when everyone is out of control. The weird thing is that this is only during period six, not period one. We get unbearable when Mrs. Risser is speaking to everyone or in small groups. If anyone is speaking the whole class replays to that one person and then starts to talk to the people around then. I think this happens because there aren’t any strict rules or consequences of talking when there not suppose too. I think that to prevent this I think you need to wait for everyone to stop talking and then tell us that we need to get our work done. I also think you could be more strict sometimes, but not too strict. In a report done by the Journal of Neuroscience, they said that adults can handle listening to something with noise better than teenagers or younger kids can.  In this study, they put kids in one room and adults in another room. They then play a guy reading four short stories, but with people loudly talking in the background. The adults listen better than the kids and understand what is going on in all four stories somewhat, but the kids don’t understand what the guy said almost the whole entire time. If we continue in our classroom with our noise level we will end up not knowing anything that Mrs. Risser is saying unless we quiet down and let people talk. When asked we can be talkative, but not all the time. We will make Mrs. Risser never want to do fun things with us. We need to stay at our respected noise level until we are outside the school or asked to be loud inside the classroom. We did an interview with Mrs. Risser and asked her about what her intake was about the whole situation.

Interviews

We asked four people some questions and this is what they said. We asked if they could concentrate when it’s loud and they said “no”, “no”, “yes”, “sometimes, it depends.” ¾ people said that they couldn’t pay attention when we get really loud. ¼ said it was perfect for them to work in meaning about 3 students like in every 4 like silence when working. So that’s saying for 10 kids that like the noise 20 kids don’t in our class. We asked the question of how often do we go above the noise level. We have exactly 30 kids in our class and having 20 kids that like or work better in complete silence means that we haven’t been getting as much work done.

Life Without a Mom

Life without a mom is hard because I go through it. Imagine not having a mom or a dad they’re fine 1 day and then the next day their gone. I lost my mom when I was 10  she was my best friend I told her everything no matter if it was bad or good I told her everything. She was my best friend who was always there for me and always cared about me. To lose someone who was always there for you through hard times or someone you lost because they said they were fine but they really were not they were actually dying.

There are some ways not to be as upset as you might seem. You can to therapy and talk about everything bad and good that happened in your life. Always surround yourself with people who love and care about and don’t hang with people who you know act like they care but they really don’t. Most of all try to be happy I know it might seem hard but try to be happy and always smile. You might have rough days where you cry all day or part of the day it’s okay it’s going to get better and im always here for you. What do you think the person you lost would want just think about that because they would want you to stay strong and get far in life. Don’t worry because I have to go through the same thing I have to try to get far in my life with my mom who was my best friend. That’s okay because im here for you and we can get through this together no matter what happens because I went and going through the same thing.

The first couple of days might be hard but it is not as hard as it seems. You have to get your mind off that person so keep yourself busy do fun things that you like. Try new things try new games or try new food don’t do the same things because if you do the same things you might get bored and then you could get sad. And make sure you tell your teachers if someone you loved passed so then if your sad then they understand if you’re sad. Remember to stay and keep a smile on your face.

Life Without Basketball

Life without basketball will be so much different the people today wouldn’t have been heard of before without basketball there will possibly only football and baseball and etc. And people will never even know how the sport if it was never invented.  If it never was invented I wouldn’t be here talking about it right now. Even the basketball who just died if basketball was never invented people wouldn’t even care about him dying or not even know who he was, He also wouldn’t have had an impact on people to try their best to be anything they wanted. Theirs also people that look up to basketball players and who try to become what they do and play for the NBA to also inspire people to do the same to accomplish their goals.

     Life without Basketball

Life without basketball there wouldn’t be legacy NBA Hall of Famers, People wouldn’t really even know or maybe even care about them, Maybe some NBA players might’ve played different sports if basketball wasn’t a thing, It probably would’ve been the same and get known from the others sports, and also had an impact in that sport by like becoming the best at that sport.

  Life with Basketball

Life with Basketball is so much better instead of without having it people right now can become an idol to people and become people who are now Hall of Famers and can inspire people to do the same.

Also with Basketball, the NBA player (Kobe Bryant) with basketball people knew who he was and gave him more respect when he died, Also with basketball. Basketball can be considered as a workout that can burn up 630 calories to u to 750 it can build endurance, And can so improve your balance and coordination.

It can help improve Cardiovascular health by running up and down the court during possessions and other movements.

Boots the immune system playing Basketball strengthens this. Having a strong and healthy immune system protects our bodies from bacteria, viruses, and toxins.

Develops and improves bone strength provide minerals to our bones which result in its strengthening. Reduces the risk of breaks.

Playing Basketball at a young age can also lead you to become taller, motions of jumping stretches the bone and helps it develop.

The benefits of mental health playing Basketball improves overall confidence as the playing skills you develop in the game can provide you with higher self-esteem on and off the court. Playing as part of a team with a coach also boost self-discipline and concentration.

Being social is important because its a team sport and so joining a team can give you friendships and connections no matter how tough your opponent is your team will be 1 source of strength.

Shooting continuously long-range three-point shots can develop both upper and lower body strength as does jumping to block shots

Good for your heart because it keeps your heart rate because you’re not standing you’re always running, jumping.

Reason too supports what basketball will be with and without.

Life with Siblings

Life with siblings , can be pretty hard and almost unbearable . Life with siblings like my brother ( weston ) , and my sister ( shatala ) is hard . My brother weston is so annoying he hits me everyday , calls me rude and mean names , tells on me for the stuff he does and he wonders why im so mean to him . My mom always says he’s 9 years old and it’s just a phase and I need to be more mature but hes needs to be nicer because he’s very smart for a 9 year old, And surprisingly i always  get blamed for everything in the household even though he eats everything and does half of the stuff that i get in trouble for .

My sister shatala is older but there’s some struggles too . I don’t get to see her every often and when i do and she asks me about dad i always say “ my dad “ and i know i don’t mean to but she’s older and i don’t see her very often … well at all . But she has her own life and she might as well live it .  She also has 2 kids my niece and my nephew ( la’mya , and angel ) .

Life without siblings i feel that would be pretty different . Life without my brother to be honest would be very relaxing and quiet. I think I wouldn’t get in as much trouble and wouldn’t have to fight over chargers and cubes .

If I didn’t have my sister shatala i’m gonna be honest on this one that I wouldn’t really think that anything changed because I never get to see her . But one thing i would realize is i wouldnt have my nieces and nephews . My sister is like a twin cause she looks just like me but she never talks to me only when she needs something so there’s pros and cons to that situation.

Both of those reasons make me come to the solution that without my brother and sister’s life would be a whole lot different . Sometimes it’s good to not have a brother and sister , but sometimes it’s bad to not have them around because without them I wouldn’t have nieces and nephews , a shoulder to cry on when I needed it the most.

Life Without Electronics

Life without electronics would be very hard because the only thing that you could do is go outside and do activities, or read a book, or do homework e.t.c. Next if we didn’t have electronics then we wouldn’t be as smart as we are today.

From architecture to the littlest thing, also we wouldn’t be typing on a computer or looking at a computer screen. Next teaching would be a lot different, teacher would handout paper for everything if there wasn’t electronics, then the effect of using a lot of paper with have a lot of trees to be cut down that means that we have less oxygen and the less oxygen we have, then we could die.

Also if we didn’t have electronics then we couldn’t text or call people and that means that there is no communication that you can carry around with you so that means if someone’s in trouble or needs to talk to you that wouldn’t be available. So the only way that you can talk to someone is to go to their location or send a letter to them.

Also work would be a lot different and people that work on a computer or sit at a desk the whole day would have to write out everything on a piece of paper and you can’t send emails to anyone but you’d have to send letters to people. Economy would also be a lot different, some people play games as their occupation and it is what they love. Some people make millions from World Cups or tournaments, and others make 10-20 dollars a day from streaming. Some people have hundreds of thousands of viewers and others have a few. Also playing video games is a hobby for some people and it is what they are passionate about. Some people say that if it wasn’t for video games then they wouldn’t be at the spot that they are at now, and don’t know where they would be at right now in life.

Also without electronics then people would have the vast towers, buildings, houses, apartments, e.t.c, without electronics people wouldn’t be able to plan.

Also without electronics people would do the things that they would usually not do such as reading a book, taking a nap, going outside, going out, play with old board games, and many more.

What I am trying to prove is that life without electronics is very different to life today, and imagine if people never had electronics never touched a cell phone,  watched tv, typing on a computer screen?

The History of the Jets

By: Brady K.

History

The New York Jets are a professional football team based in the New York metropolitan area. They are in the American football conference (AFC) East division. Their stadium is located in Rutherford New Jersey because New York has no space they had to make it outside of New York. They share the stadium with the New York Giants. They are in the National Football conference (NFC) East division. The jets colors are white, green, and black. The giants colors are Blue, White, and Grey.

Players

Sam Darnold, Quinnen Williams, Leonard Williamson, Curtis Martin, Adam Gase, Derrelle Revis, Mark Gastineau, Nick Mangold, Kevin Mawae, Winston Hill, Muhammad, Wayne Chrebet, Matt Snell, Robby Anderson, Shaun Ellis, Don Maynard, Jordan Jenkins, Marty lyons, Mark Sanchez, David Harris, C.J. Mosley, Bilal Powell, Jamison, Quincy Enunwa, D’Brickashaw Ferguson, Trumaine Johnson, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Marcus Maye, Joe Klecko, John Riggins, Keshawn Johnson, Vinny Testaverde, Arthur Maulet, Avery Willimson, AI Toon, Darron Lee, Freeman McNeil, Chad Pennington, dennis Byrd, Kelvin Beachum, Brett Farve, Steve McLendon, Brandon Marshall, Ken O’Brien, Henry Anderson, Leon Washington, Thomas Jones, and Gerry Philbin.

A player that stands out is Jamal Adams. He is a Strong Safety. He has 16 career sacks, 210 career tackles, and 6 career forced fumbles playing in 46 career games and still plays.

Another player that stands out is Joe Namath “Broadway Joe” his what he’s known as. He was their quarterback back in 1969 and won the Jets only Super Bowl. He played in 140 games, threw 27,663 career yards, 173 TD’s “touchdowns”, 220 Int “interceptions”, and his completion percentage was 50.1%. He made the Hall Of Fame.

Champions

The Jets have been in one Super Bowl. Super Bowl 3 back in 1969 with a final  score of sixteen to seven, the same year the Mets won the World Series. They won against the Baltimore Colts now known as the Indianapolis Colts. When the Jets won the AFC championship no one expected the Jets to win everybody thought the Colts were going to crush the Jets but right before the game Joe Namath said to live Tv “I guarantee we will win” and nobody believed it but it turns out they Jets actually did win.

Life Without God

WIthout god you will not go to heaven when you die you will feel pain and burn in hell. Everyone would always be mad and depressed and when they sin they won’t have anyone to turn to. God is supposed to be there for you when you are miserable and not happy or mad, god will calm you down and relax you. You need god in your life to guide you or help you push through . If god was not a person you would be controlled by the devil and that would be bad. The devil is the one when your mad or upset makes you keep doing what you are doing and it gets worse and worse until really bad things can happen like muder, robbering, or breaking things. In my opinion i would not like if god was not a person, and many others. Some people would like if he was never made or alive because there cruel and they do not care about anything. The people that dont care about god are with the devil any sometimes you can get them to be with god and believe he will help you rough times. Without god you would be non exist. Life would be nothing you wouldn’t know the meaning. When you have god you have him by your side. Also when you feel down he can heal you. Also it tough moments your church will help you can go and sing songs and worship him and pray. With god your never alone you always have support there for you.

Football Career

D team:

D team is the first year of tackle football. On D team I played for Mountville and I started out as a center for a few games and then switched to running back. We started out 1-3 and ended the season 6-3. During the season we had a bunch of different coaches. When I was playing running back it was our 6th or 7th game that we are playing and it was home against Hempfield. They were winning 27-21 in the fourth quarter with 30 seconds left, and we were doing a run play with me right up the middle and we were at our 33-yard line. I broke 2 tackles at the line of scrimmage and then there was a huge gap and then I followed it and I kept on running and then I scored the touchdown to win the game. I was so excited that it was my first touchdown. I started crying tears of excitement.

C team:

On C team you have to play for 2 years and in the first year I was a tight end and I caught 20 passes out of 22. The 2 I missed are because the QuarterBack and both he threw an interception on both. In one game we faced Donegal at Donegal and the one player punched me in the throat and he got ejected from the rest of the game. Our team made it to the playoffs and lost in the first round. In my second year of C team, I was a kicker and an offensive lineman. Our team went 3-6 and we had so many players get hurt.

B team:

On B team you have to play for another two years and my first year I played for Mountville and my second year I played for Willow Street (LS). I played quarterback both years and on Mountville, I was the backup. In that season I got 10 touchdown passes and 5 rushing touchdowns and our JV went 7-1 and our Varsity team went 3-6. I was also the backup quarterback for Willow Street. In that whole season, I only threw 1 interception and 7 throwing touchdowns and 3 rushing touchdowns. Our JV went 9-1 and we lost that game because Manheim Township put in their varsity instead of their JV. Our varsity team went 8-2. The starting quarterback threw around 15 interceptions and the 3rd string quarterback threw 5 interceptions.

Junior High:

Instead of A-team because there wasn’t one I have to play on Junior High for 3 years. We went 4-3 and started out 1-3 and won the last three games. I didn’t lay at all so I don’t really have stats.

That is my football career so far.
