Minecraft is more than just a video game. It’s an environment where players can be creative. Minecraft gives individuals the ability to plan, design, and create. As a player for many years, I’ve used this platform to build structures and worlds. My favorite world is called United City. In this world, I built multiple mansions. Each mansion included working mechanisms and lights. I was able to accomplish this using a digital material called redstone. The redstone acts like wiring to create a circuit. Minecraft helped me take my ideas and concepts to working digital project. In the future, I would like to become an architect or engineer.
It was September 20, 2019. About 150 of us were standing right in front of the Area 51 entrance, but I wasn’t like the rest of the people. I could see past the heads of many people only to see some mountains and desert-like terrain. I butted my way up to the front and now I could see the land clearly. It was very open, and there was a gate like what you see when you enter hospital parking garages. There was police surrounding the entrance, but I didn’t care. I was going in. I ducked my head under the gate and walked straight in, and they didn’t mind. I walked and I walked, about 10 miles until I reached my destination: home.
Thirty seconds left, all tied up, other team has the ball. They went in for a layup but they missed. The ball goes bouncing up and down but the other team got it again with only 15 seconds left in the game. The girl that I was guarding had the ball, she tripped and the ball slipped right out of her hands on to the ground. I went and dove for it but the other girl went for it too and she rolled right over my hand. At that moment I thought that I had broken my wrist and couldn’t finish the season.
My mom, dad and I left immediately to go to urgent care and I was in really bad pain. We got there and it felt like we were waiting in the waiting room for hours. Finally we got to the room and they took x-rays. After that they went back into the room where we were and I thought they were going to say that I had broken my wrist, but they didn’t. The doctors said that I just had a sprained wrist and I could play basketball for the rest of the season!
The next day I was playing with my team again and having fun. I was so glad that it was just a sprain because I really wanted to play basketball the next day and I did.
Soccer can be hard and easy like school but it’s way more physical. Also if you want to play for your school you´re going to need good grades. If your coach is like my coach he ́ll make you want to quit but if you push hard enough and especially if he has a mean face on you’ll make it cause we run a lot and run up hills a lot. But really if your coach is hard on you and on your team push through and it will all be over and don’t quit because you’ll have to run even more and you will look weak. That’s what I have to tell you if you have a coach like mine.
In my development, my friends Evan, Shawn and I were just riding bikes, playing tag, and throwing ball. I ate chips and guacamole for lunch. Then, right after lunch we were riding bikes. It was sunny & warm around 75 degrees. I was riding my mother’s bike with no shoes and no helmet. My neighbor Shawn was recently adopted so I let him borrow my bike.
I was riding up the hill where a soon to be an accident would happen. My friends were behind me and we were going as fast as race car drivers. I screamed to the boys, “Watch out, I’m coming!” The trees brushed me as I passed. When I hit the concrete mailbox pad, the handlebars turned and I fell on them and they impaled my stomach. I put my arms out to brace my fall and at that moment, I knew I screwed up! After that, I felt nauseous, I couldn’t breathe and I was screaming for help.
Evan ran and got his dad and my mom. My mom assessed me and then I walked into the house. However, I knew I needed to go to the hospital. I had an imprint on my stomach from the handlebars. My mom rushed me to Alfred I Dupont for Children in Delaware. I walked into the ER and they took my vitals immediately.
The ER nurse came in and called the trauma team. The trauma team examined me and took a picture of my handlebar tattoo. They took a cat scan of my stomach and an xray of my shoulder. My mom wanted to know when we were going home. The ER nurse told her “Oh no, you aren’t going home.” They came back and told me that I have a grade 3 liver laceration, duodenal hematoma, and a fractured clavicle
. I asked, “Will I be healed by next Saturday? I have a horse show.” She said, “No” and then I started crying.
I got admitted to the surgical unit and put on bedrest for 24 hours. I could not eat or drink for 24 hours. I was on IV morphine every 2-3 hours, Tylenol every 6 hours and vitals every 4 hours. I could not sleep because nurses were in and out of my room but I was entertained by Childlife, the entertainment group. They gave me slime, putty, and things to build.
I was screaming in pain because I am a stomach sleeper. They were trying to help me get comfortable. The next day, I was able to sit up and walk around a little. The third day, I was able to shower and walk around the unit. I was also on a jello, juice and broth diet. Around 7pm, I was switched to oral pain medicine and no more diet restrictions. That night was very bad! Pain was extreme and I was throwing up so they switched me back to IV medicine.
The next day, a therapy dog, Silvie, came to visit. My pain management doctor, Dr. Marcantuno, came and told me that I have a concussion. About 3pm in the afternoon, I was switched back to oral pain medicine. I was finally told that I was being discharged. After a few hours, the oral medicines kicked in and I was discharged. We started packing up our things to go home. We went home. Upon arrival at our house, people brought candy, flowers, balloons and my puppy laid with me. To this day, I have minimal pain and my doctors expect a full recovery.
The worst way to get news in general good or bad is over a text, so let’s get back to the beginning.
I rode a pony of America named Ellie she was used for Western Pleasure she was very slow. I wanted a fast horse that jumped and was energetic and that is not what I got. I needed to reteach this Pony Her GO button, but the only thing was she was really slow and I couldn’t do jumping because she was pretty old, so I stuck to the flat, I had to use a crop just to get her to trot. I had so many meltdowns on that pony I almost gave up on her, but I’m so glad I didn´t we went to our Spring Fun show with our Horse Club and we got fourteen ribbons, ten of them were first place, three of them we’re second place, and one third place. Even though I got mad because I get three second places and everyone knows that second is the first to lose, and o ́ my gosh third that is second to lose, I still praised her for the terrific work she did.
Now we get to when I had my bike accident I was in the hospital for a week and a lot more recovering one week early I took her on a trail ride and she was phenomenal she did everything I asked of her. I competed in the county show to get me to districts and I didn’t qualify and I didn’t care because I didn’t want to go anyways, a few weeks later I got a TEXT saying Ellie is really hurt, I called and with the fear that everyone has she said the vet is coming, I said on my way. I got to the barn and we are still dressed nice from church we are crying in front of this pony, her the fur was stripped from her ears and brick red same thing on her hips in between her legs and her stomach and they put her on iv fluid and her heart was going 220 beats per minute heart worked so hard, she had her second stroke and fell down her body took her mind and we thought over our options and made the decision that no pet owner wants to make, it was to say goodbye and put her down and say goodbye she just didn’t feel the rush we all did so Ellie I just wanted to say thank you.
“Why does the gun feel guilty?̈” Maybe because he always has to hurt and injure. Maybe he doesn’t want to kill all these animals. Maybe he wants to stop these people from hurting but knows he can’t. Maybe when being held he knows he is causing destruction.
Alex was the runt of the pack when he was born, he has two twin sisters named Lucky and Patch, and an older brother named Apollo. His mom and dad were the Alphas. When he was born he would often get teased because of being the runt of the pack but his older brother would always stand up for him.
He went to the top of the rock to see the view when he was five, then he heard a yelp. He ran back down the rock to see what had happened, it turns out Alex’s dad had hit Lucky because she likes another female Alpha.
“DAD STOP” he cried “YOUR HURTING HER”! He yelled with tears.
“Why because she likes another female alpha?” his father yelled,
“SHE CAN LOVE WHO SHE WANTS!” Alex yelled so loud that he woke up everyone
“Dad why are you guys yel- LUCKY!” Apollo yelled, “Alex what happened”!
“I was on top of the rock looking at the sunrise then I heard a yelp I ran down the rock to see ‘dad’ hurting Lucky!” Alex explained, “and its all because she likes another female Alpha”!
“Dad why”? Apollo asked.
“Don’t tell me you’re on her side”! Dad yelled,
“Well I am and there is no stopping me”! Said Apollo “I am to”! Said Alex.
“Whatever you boys are just a mistake especially you Alex.”
One early morning Sherman was woken up early by his mom, she kicked him out of school on a blue bus. He arrived later at this weird place with no bullying posters everywhere, and kids with sad, depressed looks on their faces in concrete-walled rooms, and shuffling through the halls.
He was told to go to room 987 when he realized he was in jail. He decided to make an escape plan, so in one of the community projects, called by his cell mates fart class, he took a poster and made the map/plan look like a drawing. Then he would conduct the plan out in the lunch hour of jail.
The whole morning they made them do academic stuff. Then one kid tried to escape when they were writing poems. It was dead silent and the kid stood up, and sprinted down the hall, and two kids followed him out the door. Before lunch he saw all three kids walk sadly back into the room.
Finally, it was lunch, now he would run through the plan. He grabbed a bathroom pass, went to the bathroom, then he slowly walked to the exit doors. When he opened one he was spotted by an adult. He quickly realized and ran through the doors as fast as he could. Then he saw a police officer, so he turned right around back into the building
He dragged himself through the rest of the school day, then the final bell rang and all the kids ran out of the building with smiles on their faces. His mom came and picked him up to take him home.
“Hey mom, why did you make me go to jail for a day? I didn’t even do anything!” said Sherman to his mom.
My Great grandpa’s hands have done many things. In the beginning of his life his hands were held by his parents, later he held the hands of his kids hands. His hands touched and saved people from starving in many different concentration camps, and his hands have read many books. Touched fishing poles and fish. He launched cannons and shot guns. His hands saved many lives but ended his.
