Josh Rivera was the one everybody talked about. If they’re not talking about his thirty point game the night before, then they’re probably talking about the game winner that he hit last week. Four seconds left in the fourth quarter, give it to Josh. He was six feet at just fifteen years old, and he was already getting the attention of college scouts! Going into tenth grade, he was planning on attending the University of Memphis. Josh’s father played at Memphis, but wasn’t quite good enough to go professional. But Josh, he was ready.

It was second period, and Josh was heading to math when someone came running up behind him.

“Yo Josh!” yelled Josh’s best friend, Gibby Frankford.

“Hey, Wassup?” Responded Josh.

“You free on Saturday?”

“I think, why what’s happening?”

“Well, There’s this new skatepark that I’ve been dying to go to,               but my mom won’t let me go.” Gibby explained.

“So now she just randomly allowed you to go?” Josh asked.

“Well…not technically.”

“What do you mean, not technically.”

“She said that maybe some other day I’d be allowed to go, and today is some other day. So I’m planning to go when she is out with her friends and I’m home alone, which is tonight. But I don’t want to go alone.”

“Will she be mad if she finds out that you went?”

“She’s not going to find out.” Gibby assured.

“Whatever, I’ll go. What time are you going?” Josh asked.

“Soon after school, I’ll text you and let you know.”

“You know I have practice at 3 right?”

“Ah shoot, I forgot about that. It’s only until 5 right? She’s not going to be home until 6:30 or 7 so we can go after your practice, even if we can’t stay as long as I wanted to.”

“That will work, see you then.” Josh settled.

That day after school, Josh headed over to practice. Him and his team were preparing for the state championship. Josh had an outstanding season, impressing scouts from all over the country. If they won this game, Josh would have a good chance at big colleges including Kentucky, Virginia, Miami, and possibly his dream college, Memphis. Once practice was over, he got a text from Gibby telling him to meet him at his house. So Josh ran home, took a quick shower, got changed, grabbed his skateboard, and made his way over to Gibby’s.

“Sup.” Josh said.

“Hey Josh! You ready to have the best time of your life?” Gibby asked anxiously. Josh laughed.

“Sure.” He said.

The boys rode their skateboards to the skatepark eagerly, and once they got there, they started skating right away. Every move and trick you could imagine was happening. Josh rode up on a ramp, flipped his board at the top, and rode back down again.

About 1 hour into skating, Josh thought he would try a new trick. He rode up a ramp, made a quick turn at the top while flipping his board, landed it and rode back down. He tried this a couple times and was nailing it. The boys were about to leave, but Josh wanted to end off on a nice trick, so Gibby joined him. He thought he would do his new trick that he had tried, so he could keep practicing and become great at it. Josh pushed off and flew up the ramp, he made a quick turn and almost instantly flipped his board. He landed it and rode down the ramp when he looked up and saw Gibby skating towards with speed that couldn’t be stopped. Josh panicked but didn’t have time to react. With the snap of a finger, Josh tried falling off his board to avoid contact with Gibby but couldn’t pull his leg out of the way. Gibby rode over Josh’s left leg while Josh was trying to jump up to get out of the way. Snap! Josh’s leg snapped in half, the bone pointing a direction that it was not supposed to be pointing. He lay there in shock, trying not to look at the possibly career ending injury.

The Rookie

“Strike 3, batters out” says the umpire

“Come on Max just 1 more out” the coach exclaims

“I can do this just need to make 3 perfect pitches and the games over no not the slider no this guy can hit the curve yes knuckleball” Max says in his head.

“The 0-2 pitch is in there strike 3 called Grover jr High wins the championship” says the announcer.

30 years later

BEEP BEEP BEEP!

 “Uhuhuhu” bang bang

“turn off you stuped alarm clock” smash. (walking into to work) “Max You have 10 Emails to respond to” says his boss

“Can you fill out these papers and give them to me at the end of the day,” says a worker.

“Hey Max look at this” says his friend Michael

“The New York Mets are holding tryouts I think you should tryout” says his friend, Max looks at him and walked away. His friend following behind him

“Max remember when you won us the championship and you threw a no-hitter”

“that was 30 years ago ok I’m not doing it” says Max and they both walk away. Later that night… Max gets his things and is about to leave but then Micheal stops him

“hey Max wait!” he turns around

“yes” Max replies

“think about that tryout, I think it would be good for you” he says

“ok, see you tomorrow”.

When Max gets home he pours himself a glass of milk and sits on his couch. As he takes a sip of milk he looks at the paper and ponders

“should I do it” he says to himself. He drops the paper on the couch and walks over to the phone he dials Micheals phone number and says

“Micheal pack your bags we’re going to citi field”.

“Come on you have to catch the ball’’ says the coach

“Excuse me” says Micheal

“oh another person trying out, what’s your name kid” says the coach.

“Oh I’m not trying out he is” the coach looks at Max “what position do you play”

“I’m a pitcher” Max says nervously. The coach spits out a sunflower seed and says

“Alright bullpens up there” so Michael and Max grab their stuff and head up to the bullpen.

“Good pitch do that again” the bullpen catcher says. “Hello” says the bullpen coach

“can I help you”

“I’d like to tryout” Max says

“ok grab your glove and head up to that mound right over there” he points

“OK, thank you” says Max.

When they get over to the mound the catcher asked Max if he can throw any offspeed pitches. Max is ready to reply but right as Max lifts his head he notices something.

“oh my god your Wilson Ramos the Mets starting catcher Ramos replies

“I sure am, so do you throw any junk pitches

”yes I throw a slider and a curveball”.

Max walks up to the mound

“let’s start out with a fastball” says Ramos

“ok” Max replies Max pitches it and it registers at 96mph. “Now let’s do the slider”

“ok” Max says excitedly. He pitches it and it’s on the outside corner registering at 88mph

“that was perfect” Ramos says while walking over to Max. “Ok now the curveball I want it to curve Inside one a right handed batter” Ramos tells him.

Max puts his foot onto the pitchers mound and pitches it. The ball makes a loud popping sound as it struck the glove

“that was probably the best pitch you threw” says Ramos

“Thank you” Max replies

“so what should I do now, is my tryout over”

“yes i’ll let you know if you make the team probably in about a week’’ says Ramos.

1 week later

RING RING! “Max Max Max! The phone is ringing” Micheal says excitedly Max jumps up and runs to the phone almost dropping it when he picks it up

“hello!” Max yells.

“Hello is this Max Jordan” says the person on the phone “Ya” says Max

“this is the New York Mets manager Brodie Van Wagon, we just wanted to tell you that you are officially a New York Met” Max jumps up in excitement

“YES YES YES YES” Max says screaming into the phone

“I would start getting ready because your starting tonight” says Brodie Van Wagon

“ok” says Max and puts the phone away. Max turns around and is frozen “so Are you a New York Met” says Micheal. “YES!” says Max so they get into the car and head to the stadium “so what number do you think you want,” says Micheal “I haven’t thought of that yet” THE END

Equality

 A boy.

  A girl.

                    Black,white, or mixed,

     Or  more.

Doesn’t define who you are,

There’s way more to life

Then your Color,

Nor personality.

You don’t have to be rich, nor

Poor, or in the middle , just to be happy.

There’s many things in this world,

We wish we could take away.

 Our weight,

 Our smile,

 Our features,

                Everything..maybe

                Everyone is perfect in their

 Own way.

   Smile , because life’s short

And you only get to smile for awhile.

Fake Friends

You might know me, my name is Nyairra and I have so many fake friends and I’m going to just tell you guys one story and a little message at the end of my story. Also, I made up names because I don’t want to say the name of the person.

When I first started high school I thought I was going to get new friends who were true but no that did not happen. I met this girl her name was Jayla, a very smart girl, who talks to her so-called friends, talking behind people’s backs. How me and her met was when I was the new girl. She said I was her new friend and that I was very pretty. Little did I know that she was talking behind my back to her friends.

She would tell them how ugly and fat I was. When I found out I just wanted to cry but instead I got revenge on her. I would put glue in her lotion, food dye in her toothpaste, and worst of all I gave her food poisoning. When she found out it was me all along she told the principle and I got in big trouble. Everyone bullied me but…I was not done with my revenge I had a video of her talking bad about her friends. So what I did was leaked the video on world star. The next day everyone saw the video and bullied Jayla. When the principal had found out I was in big trouble for leaking the video. When I should have told someone but instead I didn’t.

Even if you guys have a fake friend or are being bullied you should not try to get revenge or try to embarrass them. The best thing to do is tell someone because that person you tell can help you get through what you’re going through. Also, you might think doing something rude back might be the right thing to do but no it isn’t, the right thing to do is to tell someone or just to ignore that person or even just don’t pay attention to the situation.

My Pet Alien

Part 2

By: Davin L.

I was hiding behind the bushes and I saw buildings with labels on it one called The Beauty Masters so I walked down the hill with the bush until I met the front entrance. I threw the bush at and old man walking, he was furious. I went into the door and there were the clothes the creatures were wearing and little tablets of paint or clay? I grabbed a handful of it and got some clothes and ran out without making any noise. I looked foolish but it was a start I had went to look at one of these vehicles they created, it was nothing I’ve seen before. So I tried to get in it but I didn’t know how to open it , but I had help from one of those intelligent creatures. There weren’t a lot of buttons but it was a work in progress. After a while I got the hang of driving but I didn’t know what these flashes of light were and these signs that made no sense. It was getting dark and I couldn’t see anything and then suddenly… BANG!

I had crashed into a tree the woman had told me I was worried she will eat me alive. So I got up but then

I had a very bad pain in my legs and I fell to my knees.

“What do you want from me!” I said struggling to get up.

“PLEASE DON’T EAT ME!”

“I promise I won’t, I just want to know what you are and how you got to this planet.” The woman said in a calm gentle voice.

“What’s your name? My name is Tiffany but you can call me Tiff for short,”she said.

“Uh my name is Kurly I’m an alien at least that what they call me on this planet. I’m wondering if my family is here too?”

“I didn’t know you had a family but I haven’t seen any other aliens looking as suspicious as you. Anyways you will need some rest for that knee to heal and im guessing you’re still adapting to this new planet so I’ll come back later,” Tiff had said.

She walked out of this room and went up stairs. I wondered why she saved me but, I shouldn’t worry too much or I’ll be scared to even be near her. I got up limping to explore this box like shelter it was decordive and neat. I opened this door that was white and it was freezing cold but there were things in it that looked like meat and at that moment I screamed in fear of what the creatures would do to something living. I quickly ran towards the front door to get as far away as possible. I was almost there but then she came and beat me to the door she stood in front of it wondering why I was trying to leave.

“Why would you kill something living!” I asked screaming my lungs out.

“What are you talking about,”she asked.

“The meat in the fridge it couldn’t have come out of nowhere,” I said.

“Oh that isn’t meat,”she had lied.

I actually believed her because I didn’t know anything on this planet so I didnt question it. I sat down thinking what a weird world. These creatures are abnormal to me but I guess its normal for them. 10 minutes later.

Helicopter noises.

“Open the door,”the people in the front siad. SLAM! The door came down.

“Why,who are you?” I asked. Shew a bullet was fired…
To be continued

Phillies Game

This past August I went to the Philies game with my family. We got there at about 5:45 and got in the stadium at about 6:15 and we walked around for a little bit before the game started. Then when the game started the ubs got five runs and the Philies where losing 5 to 1 going into the bottom of the ninth. The Philies got two runs to make it 5 to three and they had the bases loaded and Bryce Harper and he is being payed 30 million a year and he hit a walk off slam into the second deck and the philies won the game 7 to 3.

A Rock to the Eye

One day my family sat me down and told me that we were going to Ohio to visit my grandparents. I was so excited so I  and I went down to Ohio to visit my grandparents. We drove the six hours it took to get there.

Once we got to their house I mean we unpacked and settled in. My grandpa was yelling at my grandma and my mom as usual and I just dealt with it. So my grandma was being nice and tried taking us to the beach …that didn’t really work out because there were no beaches so I don’t get why she thought we should go there. So anyways we turned around and went to a park that had a lake near it and we hung out there. While we were at the park me and Aric had a wonderful idea that we should skip stones and so we were and I was doing HORRIBLE. Aric was skipping his stones like 4 at a time perfectly and mine just sunk. I was doing so bad that at one point I had a necessarily big rock and I hit Aric in the face… we had to go home after. His face was bleeding and it just was not a good situation at all. So I got lectured by my sweet, sweet mother for such a dumb thing like I didnt try to hit him I just like did ya know.

Worst Day of My Life

So, one day I was biking with my buddies and we got cheesy fries hot out the oven ( from the pizza shop connected to turkey hill). The person who gave us the fries gave us those little ketchup packets. We got to my buddies house and I took one of the packets and couldn’t open it so ummm next thing I did was dumb. I tried to squirt it through the little hole I made in it but nope it had other plans… it chose to shoot into my bare EYE and burn like fire. I was screaming bloody murder it burned and my eye was bloodshot after. My friends started freaking out Ryan went to get paper towels while Connor and Graycyn just stood there. That wraps it up… the end.

Amusement Parks for Teenagers

Have you ever went to Dutch Wonderland or somewhere else and thought these rides are too much for kids? Well, they should make one for teenagers and teenagers love rollercoasters and stuff more than five year olds. The park could have huge roller coasters that make you puke, waterparks that make you wetter than wet, and random rides that make you scream. It’s kinda annoying is when you have pesky kids running around crying about a toy or something so imagine an amusement park without little kids. This is why I think amusement parks for teenagers would be perfect. Teenagers are the target audience there the perfect age for one too. We love roller coasters, waterparks, and lots of unhealthy food being sold around the rides. Also, what’s the point of kids going if most of them aren’t old enough to ride anything.
