Do we need sleep?

Do we need sleep to survive? The answer is yes, you do need sleep to survive. Sleep is an active period of time. It is when your body shuts down. Sleep is critical for everyone. Sleep accounts for one-third to one-fourth of your life. If you don’t get enough sleep it can cause long term health damage. 

You would think when you sleep your body and mind would shut down but that is not true. Your brain is engaged in many activities when you are asleep. Your brain refreshes so it can prepare for the next day. Your brain refreshes because of all it does during the day.

Getting good sleep lowers your chances of getting sick. It lowers your chance to get serious health problems, reduces stress and improves your mood. It can also make you think clearly so you can do better in school. You can get along with people better and you make good decisions to avoid injuries. Those are some of the things that will make you better if you get the right amount of sleep. It has shown that the more sleep you get the better people to act around other people. Another reason is that It can cause long term health damage, for example, it can give you high blood sugar.

Sleep accounts for one-third to one-fourth of your life that is a big amount of your life you should be sleeping. Some people don’t get enough sleep and they then get into car accidents when they are tired. If someone does get in a car accident when they fall asleep it can easily endanger themselves and others who are driving. Another reason is that it can cause long term health damage, for example, it can give you high blood sugar. 

Answering the question “Why do we need sleep” would be that sleeping is an important part of a person’s health. If someone acts grumpy or different then they normally act it could be because they don’t get as much sleep as they should. If you are going to take anything away from this it would be that sleeping is a very important part of being healthy.
