Is Owning Pets Good or Bad?

Life with pets can have good and bad aspects to it. Living with one or multiple pets is fun and amazing to most people. They can be fun little creatures running around your house always ready to play. Dogs are normally more energetic and bigger to play with, but cats provide warmth and comfort to their owners. Having pets may also help you later in life with caring for your own child. To most people, they’ll consider their pets to be like one of their own children. So providing and taking good care of them will really help you know how to care for younger people.

But just because pets can play with you and be a friend to you doesn’t mean that they are always good. Owning a pet cost time and money. First of all, just one little puppy can cost up to $1,500, and just because you bought them doesn’t mean that you don’t have to put more money into them. In order to survive, they have to have food and water just like any other living animal. Buying food can cost $100-$200 every year, and you still need water for them. Owning a pet doesn’t mean that you’re only losing money, you need to give them your time and attention too. Every pet needs a bathroom break multiple times during the day. You need to take time to take a dog outside, or pay money for a litter box for the cat. Also, depending on where you live and how you handle it, you might also need to pickup or clean your pets waste. Everyone makes mistakes, including pets, so they might have a little accident inside the house when they’re not supposed to. You need to take your time to get the necessary materials to clean it up.

As you can see, pets aren’t always good, but they’re not always bad either. They can provide company and comfort to you, but can also steal your time, money, and attention from you. Life with pets isn’t easy, but it’s always worth it in the end.
