One evening in early December and it was rifle season and I went out with my dad trying to shout my first deer and I was going hunting at my house for the first time all year and it was right on the edge of a cut bean field and there were woods and then on the other size and there was a cut cornfield. It was about three o’clock in the afternoon. My dad had just got in the treestand and I was going up the latter and my dad sais freeze There is a deer on the other side of the woods and in the cut cornfield and then it walked off into the woods.
I got up in the tree stand and we were sitting there and it was snowing and there was already a couple of inches of feet already. I was sitting in the stand freezing for a couple of hours and it was starting to get dark and we didn’t see any dear so I was thinking that we weren’t going to see any dear and then I heard a gunshot and it was the neighbor and he was close and it made me jump and it scared me.
We were sitting in the treestand and it was about twenty- five minutes until dark and all of the sudden there was a family of raccoons that came out of the woods and then they went up a tree and then right at the time we were about to get out of the treestand and a bunch of deer came out into the bein field and there were some bucks and some does. but I couldn’t tell which one was which and then I shot and I missed they all started running except one doe. I reloaded and shot again the doe jumped and they all ran off and I could see the fire when I shot. After I shot I was shaking as I was trying to get down and my dad said
“carefully don’t fall,” he said.
I replied “ I know but I can’t stop.
When we came back after we went back and got flashlight me and my dad went and we went back to where we thought I had originally shot and then we followed blood until we went into the woods and I got caught in the briers and it hurt and took my hat and ripped it off my head then we followed the blood about 100 yards and then I saw the deer and I screamed I went up and I went up to the deer and it was a pretty big doe we drug her out of the woods and then we went to the back of the chicken house and we gutted it. That was the first dear I ever shot and I will never forget that day.
